This To The Bone piece was painted by Sonny for Street Art Today in Amsterdam, for their soon-to-be launched museum for urban contemporary and street art at the NDSM Wharf. Titled ‘Embers‘, the mural shows a tiger prepared for battle, set against a fiery backdrop and is painted on a giant 9m x 5m canvas.

An ember is a burning hot coal that remains long after a fire has taken place. Embers can glow very hot, sometimes as hot as the fire which created them. This mural takes on this title, for as long as there are burning embers, there is hope. And as long as there is hope, we have a chance to protect our world’s tigers from becoming extinct.

The museum collection was started in 2015 and now includes more than 100 works by leading street artists from all over the world. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2018, Sonny hopes that people who visit the museum and see his artwork will take a moment to reflect on these beautiful animals and what we can each do to help protect them.
